I have been going for 11 years, though sporadically in the last five or so. And some of the people in Leadership positions are wonderful! Most of those in the main roles are at least. I could not praise Pastor Barry enough for example for his dedication, loving heart and wonderful ministry to the children!!! Mike Casts is another leader who runs an excellent outreach both locally and nationally and displays a passionate heart for service! The Senior Pastor also has a heart of gold.
However, I have also had negative experiences with other various members and person's in leadership positions whose names and details I will not mention.
All in all, they have been helpful at times when I have needed it but also are so big that it is easy to get lost in the crowd or for those with less than stellar intentions to entwine themselves within the congregation and even to wind their way into leadership roles. I suppose this will happen with any church body to a certain extent but feel that there needs to be a little more emphasis on real world application of the Word and less on frills or appearances in First Assembly.Added June 14, 2017 by Melea Rudig - ★ ★ ★ ★ ★
I been going to churches all my life in Fort Wayne. I just started going to First Assembly in this past year when my wife drug me there. I found an amazing place. They have a really fantastic wide range of ministries and programs for everyone. I find Pastor Hawkins' sermons to be some of the best and most relevant to me that I have ever experienced (really). ...and most importantly, I fell closer to God and my spirituality than I ever have in my life. I haven't even joined the church yet but I will. We feel very welcomed there. I don't write reviews very often but I felt I needed to let people know about a place that can change lives. They've already changed mine.

Great people, great worship, and strong leadership. Coming from a Evangelical background the Assemblies of God culture shock was a bit strong. But honestly the people are so welcoming that one adjusts to it rather quickly. 5 out of 5 for sure

If god is real it is the cruelest of cruel beings. Why should we pay homage to something that abandoned us, allows us to suffer, picks and chooses who is worthy of what and then demands our everlasting love and affection? Why should we pay homage to something that constantly reminds us that we are not worthy of its love yet it loves us anyway and for that alone we should be greatful? If you ask me that is a text book disfunctional relationship. And for those who try to defend it (god) by making the claim that it is coming back I will only say this. It should have never left us in the first place.
